Some older Accords, 626, Camrys, Altimas and similar have manuals (boring for sure) or a Saab (throwing caution to the wind).

Vibe for $1800? http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/5943940232.html
Focus for $1800? http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/5953400131.html
Both cars are probably a little tight in the back for adults but not unlivable. Also, focuses can be had for cheaper but I like the five door hatch so that’s what I suggested.

Yeah, $1k is pretty low. It might be the least amount of information I’ve seen in an ad, but e46! http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/5940235117.html
I would think an e36, e34 or e39 could be had for $1,500ish with a little patience.

Sounds scary. At least there is no air ride to collapse
